Good Samaritan Mission was established in the year 1994. Bro. S Peter Paul Raj was with Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity for 10 years. An inspiration during a religious retreat led Bro. Peter Paul Raj to believe that it was his calling, to work for the street children in Mumbai. Subsequently with Mother Teresa's blessings, he set out in ____ 1994 to fulfill his mission with just Rs.5000 (not unlike Mother Teresa herself who had setout with just Rs.5 over 50 years earlier).

With humble beginnings in a one room tenement in a slum area of Ghatkopar, Mumbai, Bro. began by tending to vagabond children in Dadar railway station of Mumbai. Many were the discouraging words and obstacles he faced during the initial years. But it was his unwavering faith in God and that belief God will provide him for his work, which saw him overcome the hurdles and continue over the last 16 years.

The mission owes a debt of gratitude to Claudio (our first benefactor) and also to the various Italian individuals and Organizations like Marco, Carla, Aleimar etc. We particularly thank Mrs.__________ who single handedly helped us financially to purchase such a large land (379 acres) in which Project - Greenland is being implemented.

Good Samaritan Mission believes that every individual on earth deserves a life of dignity with his / her basic needs being provided for. It has always been our endeavor to reach to such needy persons we come across in our daily lives.

We are guided by Mother Teresa's words . "Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat." "We cannot do great things on this earth, only small things with great love"

It is our desire to reach out to more and more of such needy persons in India irrespective of their caste / religion / origin / language etc. This is the purpose of establishing Project - Greenland in such a large plot of land. We do not wish to run out of space to accommodate and cater to people as we are experiencing in Mumbai now.
